R & D Post-Doctoral Fellow (ASCOMP Zurich, ETH Zurich and Degremont Technologies)
ASCOMP uses an adaptive R&D strategy to provide customized, innovative Computational Multi-Fluid Dynamics (CMFD) based solutions in conventional and emerging high-technology sectors. It supplies simulation solutions for practical applications in the areas of industrial and environmental fluid dynamics, modeling and software development (using its own code TransAT). In the context of an EUREKA research project involving ETH Zurich (Inst. of Fluid Dynamics under supervision of Prof. P. Jenny), Degrémont Technologies AG and Degrémont SA (both part of the of Suez Environnement Group), ASCOMP and ETH Zurich offer a joint Post-Doc position for 2 years, to be funded by KTI/CTI Switzerland.
The candidate will be affiliated to ETH Zurich (Inst. of Fluid Dynamics), while working at ASCOMP GmbH, in tight collaboration with Degrémont.
Briefly, this project (TRIUMPH) aims at the development of a new oxidation process consisting in integrated chemical/biological oxidation technology using ozone for the removal of micro-pollutants and pharmaceuticals in urban wastewaters. It is expected that CMFD will play a major role in the design process, from both a fundamental and applied aspects.
This unique opportunity offers the candidate use his/her specialized knowledge of turbulent environmental fluid dynamics to provide useful answers and guidance to ongoing design prototypes under development at Degrémont Technologies. The position is a mix of fundamental and applied research.
Highly motivated candidates holding a PhD in engineering with fluid mechanics background (mechanical, environmental, chemical, etc.) or an equivalent discipline from the ETH Zurich or an equivalent –in level- institution are welcome to send their application by email to Dr Lakehal (lakehal [at] ascomp [dot] ch) and to Prof. Jenny (jenny [at] ifd [dot] mavt [dot] ethz [dot] ch). Previous experience in CFD modelling and coding (Fortran/C++), and competentency in performing environmental fluid flow simulationsare an advantage.
The position is open starting October 1st 2013.
